Last Revised: Never Amefuri gave the teacher at the front of the lecture hall a sleepy scowl. The teacher waved a pointer stick around and seemed a little too enthusiastic about his work. Amefuri had come into the class a little late and the only seat available was on the far end of the row in the middle of the hall. In other words, no way to escape this slow torture. 'Why did I choose to take this class? I could be doing something meaningful with my time instead of sitting here listen to some crazy old man lecture about things that he knows nothing about.' Amefuri sighed and rest her head on her crossed arms. Amefuri turned her head and watched the students sitting around her, seeing that she had nothing better to do. A lot of them seemed to be either half asleep or off in their own little world. There was one guy sitting a few rows in front of her that seemed to be actually paying attention to the teacher. Amefuri watched him for a few minutes in mild surprise before deciding to do something about it. 'Why on Earth would someone actually think that this nut can actually teach something useful? It's impossible to even understand a word he's saying!' Finally, more out of boredom than anything, Amefuri decided to get his attention. She balled up a piece of paper and bounced it off the back of his head. The boy rubbed the back of his head and turned to try and find who tossed the ball of paper at him. When he failed to find someone, he turned back around and unrolled the paper to read the note: "Why are you listening to THAT old fool? You'll never learn anything useful from him, he doesn't even know that he's supposed to be teaching math and not history!" The young man scowled slightly and looked over his shoulder again. When he finally spotted Amefuri, he gave her a questioning look and shrugged. Amefuri's expression darkened enough to catch the boy's attention again. The boy quickly scribbled a note and tossed it up to Amefuri before turning his attention back to the front of the hall. Amefuri unfolded the note and read: "Because he's the teacher. We're supposed to be writing notes on the lesson and not notes on why we should be listening to him." Amefuri shook her head and bounced another note off of the boy's head. The boy, who was starting to get a little agitated with Amefuri for pelting him with balls of paper, turned around and mouthed up at her: "Can't you find someone else to bother?" Amefuri watched him with a neutral expression and responded with a little shrug. This only seemed to get the young man angrier at her as he turned away with a scowl. Amefuri sighed and lay her head back down on her arms to watch the boy's rigid back. A few minutes later, he was ignoring her and she was bored out of her mind again but, fortunately, the bell rang and released her from slow death. "Finally...." Amefuri muttered under her breath as she walked out into the hallway. "I thought the class would never end." "Mokutou, I wish to have a word with you." Amefuri turned and looked over her shoulder and saw the young man that she had pelted with paper. "What is it, Akuma?" "I want to know why you were bothering me all class." Akuma said, crossing his arms. "Why do you want to know?" "I think I have a right to know why you were bothering me." He said in a slightly annoyed tone. "Is that so?" Amefuri turned away from him. "Well I don't see why I need to tell you, my motives are none of your concern." "Your motives may not be my business but the I would like to have an apology." He could only scowl at Amefuri's back as she walked down the hall, without acknowledging his question. He knew that it would be pointless to try and get an answer out of her if she didn't want to give one. 'That girl is probably one of the most the most frustrating person at Suishou High.' He shook his head angrily and turned away. He certainly knew better than to pick a fight with Amefuri, after all, there was something not quite normal about that girl. * * * "What took you so long?" A man in black turned in his chair and scowled. "I'm sorry, sir." A young man replied and bowed respectfully. "I was delayed by a...human." "Whatever," The man waved his hand impatiently. "I have another test I want you to oversee." "Sir, requesting permission to speak freely." "What is it?" "Well sir, the last few tests have been interrupted by the same person.... Perhaps we should do something about this person before we proceed with any more tests." The man gave the matter careful consideration before replying, "Yes, but deal with this problem discreetly. Nothing will be gained from alerting them to our presence." "Yes sir." "Now, I'll trust you'll be able to deal with this matter appropriately." "I will." * * * Amefuri sipped at her drink as she silently watched the people in the cafe around her. Groups of teenage girls laughed and whispered to each other as they discussed the latest gossip. A young couple entered the coffee shop, announcing their entrance by striking up a loud conversation with each other. Amefuri adjusted her sunglasses idly as she watched the ice cubes clink around the glass. Without a doubt, she was bored out of her mind. After listening to the mindless chatter of the giddy teenagers for an what felt like an eternity (but was, in truth, only a few minutes), Amefuri was finally fed up with waiting. She muttered a few choice curses under her breath as she rummaged in her bag for the money to pay her bill. Then, a business man with dark silver hair entered the Cafe and immediately drew Amefuri's attention. He looked every bit the part, except for one little detail. No self respecting business man would wear a pair of ratty old tennis shoes with an immaculately pressed black suit. Amefuri shook her head with a disgusted look as she rose to her feet. The man turned and looked over in Amefuri's direction with a slightly disapproving look. Amefuri met his eyes with a haughty and almost challenging look. The man scowled slightly walked over the Amefuri's table. Amefuri sighed and silently began to scold herself for catching the guy's attention. 'Oh that was definitely the smart thing to do,' Amefuri's crossed her arms and kept her expression neutral as the man walked closer to her. 'Now I have to talk to this idiot trying to pass himself off as a business man.' "May I sit here miss?" Amefuri watched him while deciding if it was worth remembering her manners, and eventually decided that it would probably be best to humour him. Waving a hand at the empty seat across from her, Amefuri seated herself at the table once more. If he proved to be be a waste of her time, she would just get rid of him as soon as the opportunity came up. The man silently sat down in the booth across from Amefuri. He folded his hands in his lap and gave her a cool look that Amefuri matched...and then some. The man ignored Amefuri's glares and called a waitress over and gave his order to her. Her eyes narrowed very slightly as the bouncy waitress bowed and hurried away, he was beginning to annoy her. For a long time, the two of them simply sat there and glared across the table at each other. Or more accurately, Amefuri glared at him, he just ignored her. Amefuri looked the man over closely...something about him seemed familiar. Although where she had seen him before was escaping her at the moment. This was only making Amefuri's already foul mood, worse. The man turned his attention back to Amefuri and smirked at her in amusement. Almost as if he knew that she was annoyed that she couldn't remember him. Then, Amefuri finally remembered where she had seen him before. "What are you doing here, Akuma?" Akuma allowed the smirk to grow wider, knowing very well that it was angering Amefuri. "Why would you start caring all of sudden, Mokutou?" Amefuri growled under her breath and refused to answer him. "Oh my, I didn't know that you'd let me get away with an insult to your pride!" Akuma shook his head and gave a light mocking laugh. "I've heard how you've killed people for less!" Amefuri only gave him a icy glare. "Can this possibly be true?" Akuma wore a very false and mocking expression of shock. "Amefuri is actually being TOLERANT of others?" Amefuri's expression darkened further but she still refused to answer. She knew that he was just trying to lure her into an argument. Knowing Akuma, he would start mocking her every answer and play the hapless, innocent victim when she lost her temper. He would escape without a scratch and leave her to take all of the blame, as usual. This time, Amefuri was determined to keep herself from falling into that trap again. "By the stars! If I didn't know better, I would think that you were growing some semblance of a heart!" Akuma clutched at his chest as if the idea had just given him the fright of his life. "Good thing I know that would be totally impossible for someone like you or I might have had a real heart attack! Then what would happen to your precious reputation?" Akuma finished with a false expression of sincerity. "You're real lucky to have someone like me to keep you on the straight and narrow." Amefuri turned away from him, there was no way that he would trick her again. The mere sight of him was beginning to make her feel ill. "Still silent?" Akuma cocked his head to a side and gave her a wide eyed look of concern. "Are you sure that you're in your right mind....or whatever it is that is the norm for you." "Just get to the point," Amefuri finally growled out without looking at him. "Now, now Amefuri...you shouldn't be so hostile! After all, I wouldn't like to see you get in trouble with your keeper, Yorukai." Amefuri struggled to keep from shuddering from disgust at the mention of his name. Akuma watched on with amusement as she scowled at him in obvious irritation. He rest his chin in his hands with an irritatingly smug smile on his face. Amefuri grimaced, somehow managing to keep her temper in check. Akuma, obviously misinterpreting her grimace, flashed her a smug smile. Before Amefuri could reply, the bubbly waitress had returned with a hot plate of food. Akuma gave the girl a warm smile thanked her. Amefuri scowled as Akuma began to eat his meal. There was no point in trying to talk to him now. A few painfully silent minutes later, Akuma made a fatal mistake. "You're either afraid of that walking advertisement for prosaic, or like him." Amefuri turned slowly to face him, her expression never changing. "I do not like him or you," She seemed to be at perfect ease yet, he found himself almost pulling away from the intense hatred her gaze. "So say what you need to and leave." Akuma reached into the breast pocket of his suit and pulled out a small envelope. Amefuri silently watched him slide the letter across the table. "This is for you, straight from the top." Amefuri scowled after him and examined the small, unmarked, white envelope. She noted the slight bulge in the envelope, obviously something other than paper was inside. Amefuri flipped the envelope over and nearly choked on her drink. When she had regained her composure and looked up, he was gone. Amefuri jumped to her feet and rushed out of the cafe, leaving a very startled waitress in her wake.
